Project Overview: Creating a Modern Educational Space
The Riverbank Primary School in Glasgow was developed as part of the area's ongoing regeneration efforts. Designed to accommodate 14 classrooms, gym and assembly halls, drama and nurture rooms, office spaces, and a library, the school required a high-performance lighting solution. The key goals were to enhance visual comfort, ensure energy efficiency, and minimize maintenance, creating an optimal learning environment for students and staff.
Tailored Lighting Solutions for Maximum Efficiency
Thorn Lighting provided a customized, energy-efficient lighting solution to meet the school’s diverse needs. The design prioritized low-glare illumination, long-lasting LED technology, and smart lighting controls. Classrooms feature Omega LED panels for glare-free lighting, while offices use IQ Wave fixtures, ensuring ideal light distribution to boost comfort and concentration. Exterior areas, including the MUGA Pitch, were illuminated with Champion HQI floodlights to control glare and prevent light spillage in nearby residential areas.
Sustainability, Efficiency, and Performance
The Riverbank Primary School lighting installation showcases Thorn’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. By integrating high-performance LED luminaires with advanced lighting controls, the solution delivers maximum energy savings, reduced maintenance costs, and an enhanced learning atmosphere. This project highlights how intelligent lighting design can create sustainable, functional, and visually appealing educational environments.
Smart lighting transforms learning spaces by enhancing comfort, reducing energy consumption, and creating a sustainable future.
