Elevating Stadium Lighting to FIFA Standards
The Chongqing Longxing Football Stadium, originally designed for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, is one of China’s largest stadiums, built to host world-class sporting events. Thorn Lighting collaborated with China Construction 8th Engineering Division Corporation from the early stages of the project to deliver a state-of-the-art lighting solution that meets FIFA Lighting Standard A and AFC Lighting Category 1. The goal was to ensure exceptional lighting performance for live broadcasts while minimising glare for athletes.
Cutting-Edge Lighting Solution for Maximum Performance
Thorn installed more than 400 Champion floodlights, ensuring uniform and flicker-free illumination for high-definition TV broadcasts. These luminaires were strategically placed inside and outside the tracks, avoiding glare zones while maintaining a continuous and evenly distributed lighting effect. The precision in luminaire placement and aiming angle adjustments significantly reduced glare levels, surpassing FIFA and JGJ153-2016 standards.
Superior Product Benefits for High-Definition Broadcasting
Champion floodlights were selected for their outstanding technical attributes, including a high color rendering index (CRI) of up to 90 and a color temperature of 5700K. With a Television Lighting Consistency Index (TLCI) of up to 90 and a flicker index of less than 1%, these luminaires provide unmatched visual clarity for both athletes and TV audiences. The project stands as a benchmark in stadium lighting, setting a new standard for future sports venues in China and beyond.
"Champion floodlights have set a new benchmark in stadium lighting, delivering exceptional clarity, reduced glare, and world-class broadcast quality. Thanks to this cutting-edge solution, Chongqing Longxing Stadium now meets FIFA and AFC standards, ensuring an unparalleled experience for athletes, spectators, and TV audiences alike."
