The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation

RECOLIGHT

We are pleased to reassure you that we have discharged our responsibilities in respect of the equipment that we supply to you, by joining the Recolight Scheme.  Via this scheme, we are doing our utmost to keep the costs of recycling down to a minimum so that we can pass the benefits on to you and to society as a whole.  The suppliers of the lamps that have been embodied in our fittings have confirmed to us that they too have joined a compliance scheme for lamps and are similarly WEEE compliant.

In the meantime, we are continuing our programme of environmental improvement in our products, making them more energy efficient, longer lasting and recyclable; all in the cause of sustainability.”

Requirement for WEEE Removal
We are playing our part in ensuring that as much as possible of the lighting equipment that we sell, is recyclable and that our obligations under the WEEE Regulations are fully met i.e.:

If the fittings, being replaced by our fittings, do not have a WEEE symbol on them (historic waste), then you can use the Recolight scheme to dispose of them free of charge.

If the fittings that are being replaced by our fittings do have a WEEE symbol on them (future waste), and were made by us, then you can use the Recolight recycling system to dispose of them free of charge.

Our producer compliance scheme approved by the Environment Agency has set up a recycling infrastructure that contractors can use, to ensure that scrapped luminaires are disposed of in an environmentally sound way, i.e. recycled instead of land filled.

If you wish to enquire about its recycling services, visit www.recolight.co.uk and click on the “WEEE Recycling Request” button.

Our WEEE Membership number is WEE/KG0206VY

Industrial Batteries
As a producer of industrial batteries under the Waste Batteries and Accumulators Regulations 2009, we ZG Lighting (UK) Limited produce Nickel Cadmium (NiCd), Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), Sealed Lead Acid, and Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries. You can arrange for the collection of waste batteries via our waste services partner Recolight, visit www.recolight.co.uk. Please note that this is a chargeable service.

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations are in place to increase the reuse and recycling of waste electricals and to reduce the amount of WEEE going to landfill. The regulations aim is to improve the environmental performance of businesses that manufacture, supply, use, and recycle electricals.

At Zumtobel, we continue with our programme of environmental improvement in our products, making them more energy efficient, longer lasting and recyclable; all in the cause of sustainability.
