News Thorn fully complies with the WEEE Directive 19th July 2007 The Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive came into force on the 1st July 2007 in the United Kingdom. Thorn have joined an approved compliance scheme run by Lumicom, a not-for-profit organisation set up by the Lighting Industry Federation to administer the WEEE Directive on behalf of the professional lighting manufacturers in the UK. As a member of an approved compliance scheme Thorn has been given a registration number, WEE/KG0108WX. From the 1st July 2007 Lumicom will undertake to carry out Thorns responsibilities under the WEEE directive legislation. What does the WEEE directive mean for customers of Thorn Lighting? Historic Waste Products manufactured after 13th August 2007 Lamps and Batteries Batteries are not deemed as WEEE, under the Directive. Lumicom can provide a chargeable collection scheme for these at http://www.lumicom.co.uk/ All products returned must have their lamps and any batteries removed before return.
