Emilia School, Häljarp, Sweden

As part of its commitment to meet the EU’s target to increase energy efficiency by 20 per cent by 2020, Landskrona Municipality has opened what it claims is the most energy efficient school in Sweden, Emilia School in Häljarp. The village authorities awarded a contract to Thorn and electrical installer E-WerkWelsto replace, point for point, 48 ageing post-top mounted "Candelabra" lanterns with Plurio LED Round units.

The new LED lanterns offer a staggering 68% saving in running costs compared to the previous fixtures employing 125W mercury lamps.

In addition to the cut-back in energy, the Plurio LED Round lanterns achieve even greater savings in maintenance costs: the LEDs have a life of approximately 12 years (50,000 hrs at L70, 25°CTa) compared with the 3-4 year replacement cycle of the 125W mercury lamp.

Other major advantages of the new installationare that the new lanterns offer better sealing (IP66 v IP44), better light (3,000lm, 4200K) and less obtrusive light (ULOR 0%).
