Thorn narrows the energy and knowledge gap

Up and up goes the price of electricity, and now they’re telling us yet again that is still much too cheap. One way to fight rising energy costs is, of course, to use LED lighting. The BaseLED Junior range of recessed downlights, for example, is unquestionably a huge energy saver. Operating at 11.5W it produces 650 lumens, similar to a 35-50W halogen equivalent. It’s the same story of improvements outdoors with the Plurio LED range. Although only rated at 45W they can take the place of street lights equipped with 125W mercury lamps.

But all these advantages can be lost through two issues: the need to keep up to date with a continuously changing LED marketplace and cutting through the “promotional noise” of certain producers.

It’s a job for a highly-trained specialist, which is why Thorn’s internationally recognised customer advice service is becoming increasingly sought after for LED installations. We have also recognised the need to help our customers and end users by giving them the benefit of our own training resources via the Thorn Academy of Light, so that they are able to act more knowledgeably, and this policy has been extended within our regional sales and design teams.

For it is only by marrying innovative cost-effective LED technologies with knowledge and skills that we will improve our lighting and alleviate energy supply shortages.
