Latest News International Children's Games, Lanarkshire Two new/refurbished facilities that Thorn supplied the lighting for where competition was held were - South Lanarkshire Council - Dollan Aqua Centre, East Kilbride As part of a multi million pound refurbishment of the centre, re opened in May’2011, new pool lighting was installed to provide illuminance levels suitable for international sports competition, with switching options to provide suitable levels for general leisure swimming. Our 400w Troika flat glass range of floods, installed as uplights, have been successfully used and provided excellent crisp white lighting with great uniformity, and glare free viewing for spectators and lifeguards alike. Suspended from purpose build frames, the light from the Troikas was reflected off a special highly reflective material stretched below the original ceiling. In addition our Qba LED floodlights were used in an unusual manner. They provided powerful, instant emergency lighting fed off a local central battery system, ensuring maintenance is kept to a minimum. The new state-of-the art £32 million Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility opened its doors to the public on Thursday 30th September 2010. Thorn’s Titus Sport multi lamped T5 luminaires were used to great success. Installed and operated from our Sensalink Lighting Controls system a variety of “scenes” were can be called for depending on the sport played in the multi-event sports halls, and to the level of competition, providing great flexibility and right lighting for the right event/standard. We would like to congratulate all participants who took part in all competitions and wish them well for a long sporting future.
