Night of Heritage Light
To celebrate 2015 being the UNESCO International Year of Light, the Society of Light and Lighting (SLL) will undertake an ambitious project to light a number of the UK and Ireland UNESCO World Heritage Sites; for one night only, The Night of Heritage Lighting (NoHL).
The intention is to display the sites in a 'new light', showcasing the talents of the SLL members and the lighting community in the UK and Ireland and demonstrating to the world the power of good lighting design. In addition, the UNESCO World Heritage Sites themselves will be highlighted bringing recognition to these internationally acclaimed locations.
Thorn are delighted to be involved in creating the Night of Heritage Light on October 1st 2015 and seeing these World Heritage sites in a way that nobody has before. This project shows the potential of light to present the world around us in a completely new way, but it also demonstrates the versatility of light and the technology behind it.
Lighting is an art as well as a science, and it's been really exciting and a lot of fun for us to take part in this event with the SLL. We hope it will inspire the next generation of lighters, and remind others of the huge role lighting plays in their daily lives.
